Cheetahs rule Smith out for Currie Cup rugby

Free State Cheetahs captain Juan Smith has been ruled out for Saturday’s Currie Cup rugby match against the Pumas on Saturday, and centre Corne Uys makes way for Meyer Bosman in the starting team.

Like Smith, Uys couldn’t be considered. He replaced Bosman two weeks ago when the Springbok was not available due to injury. Uys has suffered broken ribs and will be out of action for three weeks.

Smith, who it was feared suffered from concussion, will, however, be available next weekend after tests have shown it was not the case.

The Cheetahs team is:

Hennie Daniller; Phillip Snyman, Robert Ebersohn, Meyer Bosman, Jongi Nokwe, Louis Strydom, Tewis de Bruyn; Ashley Johnson, Francois Uys, Hendro Scholtz, Barend Pieterse, Izak van der Westhuizen, WP Nel, Adriaan Strauss, Coenie Oosthuizen.

Replacements: Skipper Badenhorst, CJ van der Linde, Waltie Vermeulen, Kabamba Floors, Tertius Carse, Sias Ebersohn, JW Jonker.
