Sale Sharks sign up Fijian Lock for Premiership

Sale Sharks have confirmed the signing of 18 cap Fijian Lock, Wame Lewaravu on a two year contract.

Standing 6ft 5ins Wame has been capped by Fiji on 18 occasions and played for Fiji in the 2007 World Cup held in France including the epic battle against Wales.

Wame has experience in England having played for London Welsh following the 2007 World Cup and will join up with the Sharks pre season training group soon.

Head Coach Mike Brewer said, ” I worked with Wame during the 2009 Autumn Internationals and I am delighted he has decided to join us at Sale Sharks.

“He is a great athlete, good in the line out, loves to run with the ball and makes plenty of metres with his penetrating runs. I am sure he will be a valuable addition to our squad for the new season.”

CEO Mick Hogan said, ” With the departure of club captain Dean Schofield, the club needed a quality replacement and Mike indentified Wame, having worked with him in the past.

“I am sure our supporters will like Wame and with more signings to be announced the interest in the club is building every day.”
