Crusaders beat Cheetahs in Christchurch

This match should really be a walk in the park for the Crusaders. They are in a very familiar second place on the Super 14 table. They are at home as well.

We are waiting for the kick off.

 

The Cheetahs kick off and we are underway.

 

1.00: The Crusaders start well. The last two visits that the Cheetahs have made here have ended in 50 pointers going against them.

 

2.00: The Cheetahs give away a penalty so Colin Slade takes a shot at the posts but it hits one of them and bounces out.

 

5.00: The Crusaders are looking strong attacking the Cheetahs in their half. The Cheetahs are holding them out for now.

 

7.00: The Crusaders get a scrum in the centre of the field but the Cheetahs get the ball and run it through Danwel Demas who boots it up into the corner and chases but the ball goes out.

 

10.00: The Crusaders are going to have to watch it here. They are expecting a victory and are a little too loose.

 

11.00: Kahn Fotuali’i gets the ball off the back of the scrum on the half way line. He dummies and then runs and runs and runs and runs shoving off one tackle but finding the right holes and dives over the line and then scores!! Brilliant run.

 

12.00: Colin Slade misses the conversion.

 

14.00: Crusaders starting to open up the Cheetahs now after McCaw starts a break. The Cheetahs turn the ball over at the breakdown but then the Crusaders turn it over again.

 

18.00:The Cheetahs work the ball into the Crusaders 25. They win a penalty from Crockett. They kick for posts. Riaan Viljoen nails it.

 

22.00: A big scrum from the Crusaders – their scrum really has the Cheetahs under the cosh – wins a penalty 6m out. The Crusaders choose to scrum again.

 

23.00: Crusaders win the scrum and drive but the ball gets turned over  and then again and then knocked on. Saders 5m scrum again. Cheetahs win the scrum and clear.

 

26.00: Crusaders on attack. They get to 5m out and then swing it wide where they get an overlap of four. Crotty gets in for the Crusaders try.

 

27.00: Colin Slade takes the conversion and nails it.

 

30.00: Cheetahs maintain possession but the Crusaders defence just pushes them backwards slowly but surely.

 

32.00: Crusaders keep the Cheetahs under pressure as they go through phase after phase. Cheetahs start to look a little tired after all that work for little.

 

33.00: The Cheetahs lose Riaan Viljoen so Meyer Bosman comes on.

 

34.00: More trouble for the Cheetahs after the scrum as Thomas Waldrom busts through the defence and scores the third try.

 

35.00: Slade adds the conversion.

 

36.00: The Cheetahs win a penalty so Meyer Bosman takes the kick and nails it.

 

38.00: More woe for the Cheetahs at the scrum as the Crusaders get their scrum rolling and driving backwards and Waldrom drops on the ball for his second and the bonus point try.

 

39.00: Slade converts the try.

 

40.00: It’s half time.

 

The half time score is Crusaders 26 Cheetahs 6

 

The second half is underway.

 

43.00: The Cheetahs get a scrum on the half way line. They win the scrum barely and then boot it out to Demas who knocks it on.
