Saracens too strong for Sale Sharks

A strong second-half showing saw Saracens claim a 30-19 victory over Sale in their Guinness Premiership tie at Edgeley Park on Friday night.

Sarries took the lead in the early stages as fly-half Derick Hougaard slotted two penalties in the first seven minutes.

The Sharks responded only four minutes later, edging ahead by one point as flanker Sisa Koyamailbole scored the opening try before Charlie Hodgson added the extras.

The back-and-forth continued before the break as Chris Wyles put Sarries back in front with his side’s first five-pointer.

However, two penalties and a drop-goal from Hodgson saw the hosts take a 16-13 lead into the dressing rooms.

Hodgson doubled Sale’s lead shortly after the interval, but the rest of the half belonged to Alex Goode who led the visitors to victory.

The full-back kicked two conversions, a penalty and scored a try in the second half as Sarries secured a comfortable victory.
