Delasau joins Toulouse in Top 14 from rivals

Veteran Fijian winger Vilimoni Delasau has signed for Toulouse from French Top 14 rivals Moutauban, his new club confirmed on Tuesday.

“Toulouse needed to recruit backup after the numerous long-term injuries affecting certain players from the backline,” Toulouse said in a statement, adding that Montauban had been looking to cut back on player salaries.

Montauban were relegated last week for failing to provide satisfactory financial guarantees, although they have appealed the decision.

Delasau, 33, said he was “very happy with this new sporting adventure.”

He joined Montauban in 2008 from French club Clermont where he had played since 2006 after previously being with Super 14 outfit  Highlanders.
