Bristol re-sign star backliner Arscott

Twenty-five year old Luke Arscott has renewed his contract with Bristol Rugby, completing six re-signings for the club in three weeks.

Originally signed from fellow Championship side Plymouth Albion in 2006, Luke – the older of the Arscott brothers – established himself as Bristol’s first choice fullback in 2008/9.

This season has seen him continue to start in the number fifteen shirt, making fourteen appearances for Bristol in the league.

His abilities at centre and fly-half have added extra options in the backs for Paul Hull and the coaching team.

The news comes just two days after the club announced the re-signing of Iain Grieve and Adrian Jarvis. Junior Fatialofa, Wayne Thompson and James Phillips also re-signed with the club this month.

Commenting on Luke’s re-signing, Paul Hull said,”Luke would not have been short of offers from other clubs, and it is then particularly pleasing that he has decided to commit to Bristol at this crucial time in the season.”

“He has developed as one of our leaders in the back line, and this quality has been evident in the way the outside backs have been performing.”
