Gloucester slay Warriors in LV=Cup

Gloucester moved into second position in Pool Two after beating Worcester 17-5 in their Anglo Welsh LV= Cup clash at Kingsholm on Saturday.

The hosts opened the scoring through fly-half Nicky Robinson who slotted a penalty in the eighth minute to give his side the early lead.

Both defences held firm for the opening 26 minutes with only Robinson’s penalty separating the sides, but Gloucester started to pull away from the visitors as Freddie Burns scored the first try of the clash before Robinson converted to make it 10-0.

Gloucester extended their lead to 17 points on the hour mark as flanker Akapusi Qera crashed over the try-line before Robinson added the extras to all-but seal the win.

Worcester put their first points on the board in the 75th minute as Chris Pennell broke down the stubborn Gloucester defence to score his side’s opening try.

However, it was not enough to influence the result as the hosts claimed the win.
