Bristol trio renew contracts

Wayne Thompson, Junior Fatialofa and James Phillips (pictured) have this week renewed their contracts with Bristol Rugby.

With the season now over the half way point, Bristol Rugby have begun looking to the future with the commitment of three current players, all of whom have made a substantial impact on the 2009/10 season.

Junior Fatialofa signed for Bristol at the start of the 2008/9 season from fellow Championship side Exeter Chiefs, and has featured in thirteen fixtures in the 2009/10 season, scoring 3 tries in the process.

Originally form New Zealand, Junior has carved a position for himself in the starting XV as a uncompromising, skilful inside centre.

Also committing his future to the club is James Phillips, perhaps one of the stand out players of the season. Bristol born and bred, the twenty-two year old has progressed through the ranks from the Academy to a first team regular.

Capable of making an impact anywhere in the back – or second – row, Phillips has scored five tries for his side this season and has been named Man of the Match on two occasions.

And finally, prop Wayne Thompson has also extended his contract with the club. Like Phillips, Wayne is another product of the Bristol Rugby Academy and has featured in every league game this season.

Commenting on the announcement, Head Coach Paul Hull said, “Having these three players commit to Bristol is a big boost for the club.

“Everyone involved feels the momentum building as we head into the latter stages of the league and this news only helps that.”

“James, Junior and Wayne have all impressed this season and it’s a promising sign of the club’s future that they have extended their contracts.”
