Four-try Scarlets thrash Warriors in LV= Cup

The Llanelli Scarlets surprised the Worcester Warriors with a 32-17 victory in their Anglo-Welsh Cup match at the Parc Y Scarlets.

The Scarlets stormed into an early lead as Rees Priestland took a successful penalty in the seventh minute.

In the 23rd minute, the hosts increased their lead to ten points when Darren Daniel crossed the line for a try and Priestland converted with ease.

Just seven minutes later the Warriors finally got points on the board as George Crook kicked a penalty.

David Lyons scored a try a minute later to increase the Welsh side’s lead aagain and Priestland maintained his flawless kicking record to take the score to 17-3.

Another penalty before the break saw the Scarlets leading 20-3 at half time.

Worcester’s troubles continued as they had prop Graham Kitchener sin-binned just five minutes into the second half.

The Scarlets didn’t waste any time making the most of their advantage with a try from Daniel Evans just three minutes later, followed by a try from Priestland a moment later. Priestland converted one of them to tale the score to 32-3 in the 49th minute.

The Warriors finally added to their three points on the board on the hour mark, when Matthew Cox scored their first try of the match and Calum MacRae converted with ease to take the score to 32-10.

Kitchener redeemed himself and offered a sop to the Warriors’ pride with his dramatic late try in the 79th minute, it was converted by McRae.
