French Top 14 manager quits club

Brive manager Laurent Seigne has quit the struggling French Top 14 rugby union club on Monday.

“We regret the departure of Laurent Seigne,” club director general Simon Gillham said in a statement.

His departure comes a week after honorary president and French television host Patrick Sebastien.

Former France international Seigne, 49, was coach from 1995 to 2001, and took over the manager’s role in 2008.

He previously coached English club Gloucester and French sides Bourgoin and Castres.

Last season Brive qualified for the Heineken Cup  by finishing sixth in the Top14.

This season the club are sitting in 11th place.
