Eagles name unchanged side in Currie Cup

The South Western Districts (SWD) coach Johann Lerm on Tuesday announced an unchanged side for the SWD Eagles’ First Division rugby final against the Pumas at Witbank on Friday evening.

The team which, beat the Griffons 31-18 in last Friday’s semi-final match at Outeniqua Park now gets another chance to prove their worth.

“It was always going to be a difficult choice, but I should consider myself lucky to have quality players such as Wayne Bennett, Gaffie du Toit and Wickus Harmse on the bench.

“It is also just fair to give the players that were in such good form last weekend another run,” Lerm said.

Lerm is also not concerned about reports that the Pumas might be too strong for his team.

“That is fine with me. I prefer to be the underdog.

“But we also have a surprise or two for our opponents in store,” he said.

The team is:

Bevin Fortuin (capt), Norman Nelson, Bobbie Joubert, Isak Saayman, Baldwin McBean, Ricardo Croy, Jandré Blom, Jody Burch, Jacques Engelbrecht, Victor Joubert, Henry Grimes, Giant Mtyanda, Tiaan de Kock, Junior Leota, Jaco Terblanche.

Replacements: Wayne Bennett, Brood van der Westhuizen, Wikus Harmse, Vickus Liebenberg, Dougie Hellmuth, Gaffie du Toit, Joe Breytenbach.
