Popham Heineken Cup blow for Brive

Brive have suffered a blow in that they have lost Wales international and back rower Alix Popham who is likely to be out of rugby for a month.

The backrower suffered a dislocated elbow which will need a month to heal.

The big No.8 played for Brive against his former Welsh regional club Scarlets on the weekend and picked up the injury whilst making a tackle.

The injury happened in the opening weekend of the 2009/10 Heineken Cup.

Brive lost not only Popham but also the match 24-12 so they will have an uphill battle to make the play offs.

This weekend they must face current Heineken Cup champions Leinster at Stade Amedee Domenech.
