Saracens make a winning start in Challenge Cup

Saracens successfully transferred their winning form from the Guinness Premiership to the Amlin (European) Challenge Cup when they kicked off with a 36-12 bonus-point victory over Italian side Rovigo at Vicarage Road, Watford.

Saracens scored four tries through Kevin Sorrell, Don Barrell, Michael Horak and Rodd Penney.

Nineteen-year-old fly-half Jake Sharp who was one of four players who were making their debuts, kicked 14 points through three penalties and a drop goal.

Saracens other points came from a conversion by former Springbok and Bulls number 10 Derick Hougaard.

The Italians could only muster four penalties through their kicker Bustos.
