Leopard Landman to start against the Lions

Ligtoring Landman will take his place in the starting line-up against the Lions in the place of Rudi Mathee when the Platinum Leopards play the Lions at Coca Cola Park on Friday night.

Mathee injures his knee on Friday and will be sorely missed, but Landman played Super 14 for the Lions and should have the same kind of impact on the game.

This is one of two changes to the side that narrowly lost to the Griquas in Potch over the weekend. On the bench Deon van Rensburg replaces Nicky Kritzinger and makes a welcome return after recovering from concussion.

Hooker Gavin Williamson will start his third match in a row from the bench and would also have loved a start against the Lions after a short stint in Johannesburg last year.

The Leopards should have a 50/50 chance in Jozi after picking up their game over the last two weeks while the Lions are still struggling to get their season properly off the ground.

They start the match without captain Baywatch Grobbelaar and new recruit Earl Lewis, who are both injured.

Leopards team:

Russell Jeacocks; Danie Dames, Jovan Bowles, Basil de Doncker, Bom Samaai; Cecil Dumont, Michael Bondesio; Christo van Niekerk, Thabo Mamojele, Palm Koch C, Draad Linde, Toring Landman, Philip Lemmer, Pellow van der Westhuizen, Nardus Lombard.

Reserves: Gavin Williamson, Os van der Walt, Bennie Adams, Riaan Swanepoel, Jean Tiedt, Clayton Durand, Deon van Rensburg.
