Former Bull named in Province side

The 23-year-old Pretoria-born Deon Fourie has been named in the Western Province side to play the Blue Bulls in their Currie Cup Premier Division match at Newlands, Cape Town, on Saturday evening.

Fourie, a former Blue Bulls Craven Week and SA Under-19 star, will replace the injured Province first-choice hooker Tiaan Liebenberg who is nursing a knee injury.

Fourie had game time in the Super 14 competition for the Stormers as an openside flanker earlier this year.

The change at hooker is the only one in the Province side who are at the top of the Currie Cup table following their comprehensive win over the Sharks in Durban last week.

Conrad Hoffmann, who is one of three backs on the team’s reserve bench, will provide cover for the flyhalf and scrumhalf positions.

Substitutes: Hanyani Shimange, JD Moller, De Kock Steenkamp, Pieter Louw, Conrad Hoffmann, Frikkie Welsh and JJ Engelbrecht.
