Rabeni’s move to Gloucester falls through

Fijian international and former Leicester Tigers centre will not be part of the Gloucester Rugby squad next season as had been expected.

Gloucester  announced the signing of Seru Rabeni from Leicester towards the end of the 2008-9 season as the club looked to revamp its backline for the forthcoming Premiership Rugby campaign.

However, Rabeni sustained a flexion/rotation knee injury whilst playing for Fiji in the Pacific Nations on the 6th June 2009.

The injury means that Rabeni would have missed a considerable amount of the Guinness Premiership season.

As a result, Seru failed the pre-medical examination as stipulated within his contract and as such his agreement was terminated.
