Valke bench De la Porte brothers

The Valke have selected Springs’ De la Porte brothers on their bench for Saturday’s Currie Cup First Division game in Witbank against the Pumas.

The 30-year-old Dawid will join younger brother Dieter in the squad of 22. Both brothers are specialist fullbacks, but can play anywhere in the backline.

Dieter represented Springs at fullback with big brother Dawid at inside centre earlier in the season.

Dawid is one of the club’s top try scorers.

The Valke will do battle without star centre Franco Booysen, one of their main strikers, against the Pumas, which resulted in Clinton Kayser being selected at outside centre.

The former Red Devils will also have their third scrumhalf in three starts with Alvandré Maart wearing the number nine-jersey with first choice Haas Snyman still out injured.

Coach Yagia Sakier also made only one change to the pack that lost against the Griffons in their opening match, with former UJ student Tango Gatya, starting at hooker with BB Hefer relegated to the bench.
