Golden Lions bosses voted out

The president of the Golden Lions Rugby Union Jannie Ferreira and his deputy Manie Reyneke resigned from their positions late on Tuesday following a revolt by the clubs this week after the poor performance of the union in the Super 14 competition.

The union’s CEO, Reyneke, will however remain on in that position.

Their resignations follow a meeting of the GLRU’s clubs on Monday night where they planned to take a vote of no confidence against the duo.

They did not, however, have the constitutional power to oust Ferreira and Reyneke, who on Tuesday decided to stand down in the light of the clubs’ decision.
