Walker boots Worcester to Gloucester victory

Worcester Warriors claimed a 13-6 win when they visited Gloucester rugby on Tuesday night, shattering the hosts play-off hopes with a rare victory at Kingsholm.

The Cherries and Whites started the match in search of a win to make up for their loss against Cardiff at the weekend, and they started well with the greater share of possession with a penalty from Olly Barkley putting them ahead in the 12th minute.

But the Warriors replied in the 27th minute with a penalty of their own, courtesy of Willie Walker slotting it from the right to make it three points apiece.

The visitors took the lead for the first time in the 37th minute, when a foul from Scott Lawson gifted them a penalty and Walker slotted with ease.

And in the last movement of the first half the Warriors increased their cushion, with a Netani Talei finding a gap to score a try which Walker successfully converted.

Without much to show for their superior possession in the first half, Gloucester started the second brightly and Barkley managed to kick another penalty in the 53rd minute to reduce the gap to 7 points.

But the penalty proved the last score earned for the match and Worcester held on to win it 13-6.
