Saints all set for Irish visit

Director of Rugby Jim Mallinder wants the Northampton Saints team to finish their home Guinness Premiership campaign on a high with tomorrow’s Round 21 visit of London Irish.

Saints go into tomorrow’s game seeking a possible seventh placed finish in this season’s Guinness Premiership.

“With only two games left and four teams still in the running for this position, points are at a premium and Mallinder wants his team to make the most of their final league outing at Franklin’s Gardens against a London Irish outfit that is pushing for the play-offs.

“London Irish have been one of the form teams in the Guinness Premiership this season,” he said today.

“They play an exciting brand of rugby, something backed up by the fact that they have scored more tries than anyone else. They run hard and fast at you and then have the skills to exploit the space they create.

“But their defence is also superb, which means that we will have to make the most of our opportunities, be disciplined and stick to our game plan.”
