It’s not been a good week for the Lions. One of their coaches has been suspended, another coach is talking of resigning at the end of the season and they are coming off the back of a 56-18 thumping by the Stormers.

4.00: The Brumbies are looking for their 100th Super Rugby win in this match and they look liuke they mean business for today’s match.

 

8.00: The Lions try the chip kick up for Henno Mentz but the ball bounces unfavourably.

 

11.00: Louis Ludik puts in territorial kick in which sets up a Brumbies line out.

 

14.00: The Lions get the first try of the match as Jaque Fourie breaks through the Brumbies defence to score for the Lions.

 

15.00: Andre Pretorius slots the conversion.

 

18.00: Jano Vermaak shows he has some speed as he catches Mark Gerrard by surprise. Vermaak kicked the ball behind Gerrard and won a foot race for the line to score the Lions second try.

 

19.00: Andre Pretorius misses the conversion.

 

23.00: The Lions lose Todd Clever to a blood bin.

 

25.00: The Brumbies get a penalty so Mark Gerrard takes the kick but he rushes it and misses it.

 

30.00: The Lions are starting to open up the Brumbies but the finishing is preventing them from adding points.

 

33.00: The Lions lose their captain Cobus Grobbelaar to the sin bin for 10 minutes. (Lions 12 Brumbies 3)

 

35.00: The Brumbies get that first try as Stirling Mortlock gets through to score after using the numbers.

 

36.00: Mark Gerrard slots the conversion.

 

38.00: Jano Vermaak shows another turn of pace outrunning three Brumbies but the tackle goes in and Andre Pretorius sends over a drop goal.

 

40.00: Free kick to the Brumbies, they run the ball into the 25. They recycle the ball but a knock on goes in and thats the end of the half.

The second half is underway.

 

43.00: The Lions try to clear the ball and Mark Chisholm charges the kick down and regather the ball to score the Brumbies second try.

 

44.00: Stirling Mortlock slots the conversion to take the lead.

 

47.00: Cobus Grobbelaar comes back on the field for the Lions (14 points scored while he was off).

 

48.00: Julian Salvi is blown up for an infringement so the Lions get  chance to kick for goal.

 

50.00: Andre Pretorius takes the kick and slots it. Todd Clever and Lawrence Sephaka get replaced.

 

53.00: Andre Pretorius goes for a drop goal but misses.

 

54.00:We go back for the penalty/advantage so Pretorius gets another shot but misses again.

 

59.00:Henno Mentz tries a grubber kick up field and gets flattened by George Smith. Sitaleki Timani gets back to secu
