Woodcock doubtful for Blues against Chiefs

The Blues could be boosted by the return of two backs ahead of Saturday’s clash against the Chiefs in Hamilton but Prop Woodcock is doubtful to start against the Chiefs.

Blues backs Paul Williams and Tasesa Lavea have both missed the last two matches for the Blues but have been back in training this week and Blues assistant coach Shane Howarth told Newstalk ZB that they are both awaiting the final medical clearance.

The Blues medical staff say that they are both about 85% fit which means that they are both likely to start from the bench.

The bad news for the Blues is that All Black prop Tony Woodcock is still being troubled by an an ear infection and is a doubtful starter as he is struggling to keep his balance.

The problem kept Woodcock out of contention for the Blues smashing of the Cheetahs last weekend but Howarth says that they have the depth to cover for Woodcock, as Tevita Mailau has come on very well.
