Hayes renews contract with Bristol Rugby

Bristol Rugby have continued their player recruitment for next season as Academy hooker Ollie Hayes has signed a new and enhanced contract with the club’s Academy.

Hayes, who doesn’t turn 19 until next month, joined Bristol from local rivals Bath last summer and has spent the season continuing his studies whilst developing his skills at the club and turning out regularly for Dings Crusaders and Bristol United in the Guinness A League.

Ollie made his first team debut against his former club last weekend when he replaced the injured David Blaney after only 15 minutes.

Bristol Rugby Academy Manager Tony Russ said today:”It’s rewarding for the Academy when one of its players makes the step up to first team rugby and serves as great encouragement for the other members of the Academy. I’m very pleased for Ollie as he’s worked hard this season.”

Bristol Rugby Head Coach Paul Hull added:”I’m delighted Ollie has signed a new contract. He’s made great progress this season and that was shown by how he acquitted himself when he made his first team debut last weekend.”
