Springbok coach Paul Treu expressed his confidence that his Springbok Sevens team will put up a good fight this weekend at the San Diego Sevens at Petco Park, where the next leg of the IRB World Sevens Series is taking place.
Treu was happy with team preparations and said the squad is determined to improve on their semi-final performance in Wellington last week.
“We never used to do well in this tournament because by the time we got to the States, most of the guys were caught out flat by the extensive travelling and then it is easy to get homesick.
“This time around there is a real buzz of excitement in the team. The guys are chatting and there is a real bond. We know it will be tough but the squad is well prepared and I sense that the focus is much better,” explained Treu.
South Africa plays Portugal in their opening match before facing up to the tougher challenges of Tonga and Samoa.
