Bristol and Kevin Maggs part company

Bristol Rugby centre and former Irish international Kevin Maggs has left the club by mutual agreement.

Maggs returned to Bristol Rugby in the summer of 2007 for his second spell at the club having started out as a Bristol Colt before captaining the U21s and making his senior debut in the 1993-4 season before leaving for Bath at the end of the 1997-8 season.

He made his international debut for Ireland against New Zealand in November 1997 and went on to play in the 1999 and 2003 World Cups winning a total of 70 caps.

Bristol Rugby CEO Steve Gorvett today paid tribute to Maggs:”Kevin is a Bristolian through and through. He started out at the club as a youngster and went on to have a marvellous international career.

“We wish Kevin and his family all the very best for the future.”
