Saints blow Bristol away

Northampton Saints coach Jim Mallinder yesterday stated that his team was not complacent given their recent form as Guinness Premiership newcomers and they proved the point on Saturday by hammering Bristol by 30 points to 8.

It took a while for the scoring to begin, but Stephen Myler broke the deadlock in the 29th minute with a penalty.

Paul Diggin then scored a try in the 32nd minute, which Myler converted and he kicked another spot kick in the 38th minute to make it 13-0 at the break.

Ed Barnes got Bristol on the board in the 52nd minute through a penalty, but Saints scored their second try through Ben Foden in the 72nd minute.

Myler converted that try and then another a few minutes later after Jon Clarke scored another try.

Bristol got a try right at the end through veteran David Lemi but it wasn’t enough to avoid a rather large defeat.
