Nathan makes it Brew two at Bristol Rugby

Bristol Rugby have announced the signing of Welsh international centre Nathan Brew who will join Bristol having left Welsh region the Scarlets recently.

It’s actually a return to where it all began for Brew who was a Bristol player back in the Bob Dwyer era. Although he didn’t make any first team appearances for the club, he made five appearances for the U21s and United in 1999-2000 scoring one try.

Born in Cardiff, Brew then returned to Wales when he signed for Newport where he played from 2001 to 2003 before joining the newly formed Newport Gwent Dragons side in 2003 where he stayed until 2007 when he signed for the Scarlets.

Capable of playing wing or centre, Brew won his only Welsh cap making a try-scoring debut in an Autumn Test against Romania at the Racecourse Ground in Wrexham.

He was then omitted from the Wales squad until 2006, when he was selected for the summer tour to Argentina. However, he did not play in either of the two Tests.

26 year old Brew has also turned out several times for the Welsh national team at a number of different levels. He began his international career when he played for the Welsh Senior Schools side, before moving on to the Under-19 and Under-21 sides. He has also been involved with the Welsh Sevens team.

Head Coach Richard Hill confirmed that Brew will be a welcome addition to his squad and that he was pleased to get the deal done:

“I’m delighted to be able to confirm that Nathan has joined Bristol Rugby. He’s linked up with us immediately and will provide us with some additional options in midfield.”

Bristol Rugby would like to acknowledge the ongoing support of the BRIS Trust whose valued contribution has helped to make Nathan’s signing possible.
