Highlanders without Evans for Lions, Sharks

After narrowly defeating last year’s bottom of the log Force on Friday, the Highlanders will travel to Johannesburg without star fly-half Nick Evans.

Nick Evans, who missed the against the Force in Perth, will also be returning home. Evans was hoped to have been available for the South African part of the road trip but has now been directed home to rehabilitate his injury.

Meanwhile, speedy winger Viliame Waqaseduadua is also returning to New Zealand after sustaining a medial ligament strain to his right knee which will sideline him for 4 to 6 weeks.

Willie Rickards from the wider training group will join the team in Johannesburg as cover along with centre Aaron Bancroft.
