Willemse in line for Lions return

Springbok World Cup winning winger Ashwin Willemse has reached out to his old Super 14 team, the Lions, for a possible return to South Africa.

Willemse, who is currently playing for Biarritz in France, has had mixed fortunes and has been unable to win a regular place ahead of American winger Takudzwa Ngwenya.

Afrikaans Sunday newspaper Sondag reported Willemse had started negotiations with the Lions, and this was confirmed by coach Eugene Eloff.

The Lions last week lost Springbok centre Jaco Pretorius, who signed a three year contract with the Bulls.
