England to meet USA in Rugby World cup

Current World Champions England will begin their Rugby World Cup defence against the USA in France next year.

The Eagles beat Uruguay 33-7 in the second match of their two-leg qualifier which earned them their place at the Rugby World cup.

The Eagles won the first leg 42-13 in Montevideo on the 1st of October and are now in Pool A with England, South Africa, Samoa and another qualifier still to be determined (possibly Tonga)

England will face the Eagles at the Stade Felix-Bollaert in Lens on 8 September 2007 but the big pool match will be England vs South Africa on the 14th of September 2007.

“We qualified for the World Cup, so I am happy about that,” said Captain Mike Hercus.

“We could have scored a lot more points. We just didn’t adjust to the referee’s calls like we should have. But that is something that will come with time.”
