Australia A trounce Fiji to stay top of Pacific Nations Cu

Winger Lachlan Turner scored a pair of tries Sunday as Australia A maintained its perfect record and first place in the Pacific Nations Cup rugby tournament with a 50-13 win over Fiji.

 

Digby Ioane (pictured) scored two tries in the match.

The eight-try win at Ballymore earned a bonus point and moved Australia A to 19 points on its 4-0 record, two points ahead of New Zealand Maori, also 4-0.


The leaders will play in Sydney next Sunday, with the Maori needing a win to overtake Australia A and capture the six-nation tournament.


In other weekend results, Samoa beat Tonga 20-15 in a match involving previously winless teams, and the Maori overwhelmed Japan 65-22.
