Following certain negotiations which were initiated by the Southern Spears, the dispute between SA Rugby and the Southern Spears has been settled and the Southern Spears has abandoned the judgment by Judge Davis handed down on 4 August 2006.
Koos Basson, SARU vice-president has stated that the effect of the settlement is that the Spears will not participate in the Vodacom Super 14 Competition.
“SA Rugby has already commenced implementing measures to help the Eastern Cape region to sustain and strengthen the development of rugby in the region,” said Mr. Koos Basson, SARU vice-president.
