French international prop Olivier Milloud ruptured his right Achilles tendon while training with his Top 14 side Bourgoin on Wednesday.
The 32-year-old veteran – capped 43 times with one try since making his debut in 2000 – will undergo further scans and x-rays on Thursday according to the club doctor.
Milloud, who was part of the France squad that reached the 2003 World Cup semi-finals where they lost to eventual champions England, is expected to be out of action for six months.
It is the second injury blow for Milloud this season – he had to undergo an operation on his neck last November which ruled him out of the Six Nations tournament.
