Lewsey picks up injury ahead of All Black test

Andy Robinson’s England have again been hit by injury as Josh Lewsey picked up an injury in Wasps’ defeat to Perpignan.

Lewsey has his knee in a brace after suffering suspected medial ligament damage to make matters worse other injuries are Olly Morgan, Perry Freshwater and James Forrester.

Freshwater and Forrester missed out on their team’s Heineken Cup games and Morgan suffered a recurrence of a shoulder injury and he is unlikely to recover in time to feature against the All Blacks

Lewsey will have a scan on Sunday or Monday to determine the extent of the damage.

“I will have to wait and see what the scan says, but I am being as positive as possible,” said Lewsey.

“It was a twist, it was one of those things you can’t predict, and the pain wouldn’t go away when I was trying to run at top end.

“My gut feeling is that is it not as bad as it looks, but we will just have to wait and see. I might be training by next Tuesday or Wednesday, I just don’t know.”

Forrester willsee a specialist to determine if he can play against New Zealand.

England suffered embarrassing losses in the Six nations after their clubs played their England players a week ahead of International matches and this has happened again as almost all 30 members of England’s 30-man squad were chosen to play this weekend.
