Catt not in talks with Johnson

Mike Catt insists that his friendship with World cup winning England captain Martin Johnson will not give him an unfair advantage when England appoint a new backs coach.

RFU Director of Rugby Rob Andrew has been holding talks with Johnson over position of England team manager which seems to have been made for Johnson.

World cup winner Catt played in most positions in the England backs.

“I have had no contact with Jonno whatsoever.” he says in the Daily Mail.

“I’d love to be involved in the England set-up That is my ultimate goal when I go into full-time coaching, like it is for a lot of people.

“But I have got to earn my stripes somewhere and London Irish has given me a great stepping stone.

Another name that has been mentioned in connection with the position is Austin Healey who also played in most positions in the England back line.
