Ollie le Roux in line to join Cheetahs

Negotiations for former Springbok prop Ollie le Roux to be appointed an assistant coach to the Free State Cheetahs team are at an advanced stage, and Le Roux could start in this new capacity as early as May 15, it is reported by OFM Sport.

The report says that the former Free State, Sharks and Cheetahs front-row veteran who played in more than 100 Super rugby matches and over 50 Tests, has been in negotiations with the Free State Rugby Union to become involved as forward coach with the Currie Cup side at first.

He will pay particular attention to the Free State’s scrummaging and driving mauls.

Le Roux will the later assist the head coach of the Cheetahs Super 14 and also Currie Cup sides Naka Drotske.

Le Roux and Drotske were team mates and partners in the front row for the Free State, the Cheetahs and the Springboks. Hawes Fourie is the Cheetahs backline coach.

Le Roux is currently contracted to the Irish club side Leinster, but will retire from playing after the present Northern season.
