Blues coach David Nucifora might have missed out on coaching the Wallabies but he is at the top of the hit list to become the ARU’s next High Performance unit head.
The NZ Herald reports that Nucifora could be named as Pat Howard’s replacement as early as next month signaling the end of his term with the Blues that started in 2005.
“I have been linked with another ARU job as well for months before this,” Nucifora said.
“I have not advanced it at all, I have left it alone while I was away.”
Nucifora also said there was no timeframe for him to respond to Australia’s interest in his skills.
New Zealand rugby recently lost Crusaders coach Robbie Deans to the ARU and with the Blues sitting at third on the Super 14 table it would be a loss to New Zealand rugby if the ARU took another of their top coaches.
