Valentine joins Waratahs

Recent Wallaby Josh Valentine will wear a Waratahs jersey in Super 14 next season. The 23-year-old product of Queensland rugby joins a costly list of Queensland talent haemorrhaging from the formerly powerful Northern Australian rugby stronghold.

Over the last 18 months Queensland have lost the services of veteran hooker Brendon Cannon, current Wallaby lock Nathan Sharpe, centre Junior Pelesasa and winger Drew Mitchell all to the big spending Western Force.

Valentine is currently preparing with the Australian A side to take on Fiji in the first of two July games this Saturday.

He will face fierce competition from two other talented young NSW halfbacks in 2006 Waratah Brett Sheehan and U21 star Josh Holmes.

Holmes was one of the standout players at the recent Under 21 world championship in France. Valentine made his test debut from the bench against England last month in Melbourne.
