Bristol United Guinness A League fixture postponed

For the third week running, the Bristol United side are left without a Guinness A League fixture as tonight’s game against London Wasps has been called off.

The terrible weather conditions affecting the West Country for the past day or so have taken their toll on the pitch at Clifton RFC.

The pitch was playable first thing this morning but incessant heavy rain throughout the morning has resulted in large pools of water in several areas of the pitch and the reluctant decision was taken to call off the game at 2pm.

Tonight’s postponement is the second abortive attempt to fulfil the Wasps fixture after the London side were unable to raise a side a fortnight ago. In addition, Gloucester couldn’t raise a team last Monday to face the United.

It caps a frustrating couple of weeks for the likes of Peter Bracken and Dan Ward-Smith who are looking for a competitive run out to enhance their first team claims following their return to fitness.
