The Cheetahs got the perfect start by scoring a try after only 1 minute and 17 seconds. Eddie Fredericks was the try scorer. The try was not converted.
Jacques-Louis Potgieter the new Cheetahs kicker had a shot a goal for a penalty but missed.
Louis Strydom the kicked a penalty for the Lions closing the gap slightly.
Next is was the Lions who gave away a penalty and Conrad Barnard stepped up to take the penalty kick but missed.
A ball fumble from the Cheetahs after a scrum sees the ball being turned over and a flying Franco van der Merwe gets the ball and darts for the line to score the Lions first try. Louis Strydom converts the try and the Lions are five points clear.
A minute later Duanne Vermeulen crashes over the line for the Cheetahs scoring the Cheetahs second try. The conversion was successful.
The Cheetahs are caught offside in front of the posts and Louis Strydom takes the penalty and kicks it straight between the posts to take the lead again.
There was an extraordinary moment just ahead of the half time siren. A lineout ball appeared to go forward but Barend Pieterse kept on running with the ball as the Lions stop playing but Pieterse scores a try. The try was converted.

The Cheetahs were the first to score again after the whistle although this time it was a penalty and not a try. Jacques-Louis Potgieter took the kick and was successful.
This was followed by Adriaan Strauss being set to the bin for ten minutes. The resulting penalty was missed by Louis Strydom.
The Lions get back into the match as Doppies la Grange scores in the corner possibly injuring his shoulder a lot like Habana did in an earlier match today. Earl Rose converted the try.
A late penalty by Earl Rose put the Lions in front and then as the clock wound down he took another shot at goal this time with a drop kick.
