Match detail.

Dan Carter scored the first points of the match and with it the first points of the 2008 Super 14.

The Brumbies gave a penalty away 36 metres out from their line and Dan Carter slotted the penalty.

Three minutes after Carter’s penalty the Crusaders did pretty much the same thing as the Brumbies and gave away a penalty.

Julian Huxley slotted it for the Brumbies to draw the scores level.

The Brumbies then enjoyed a period of sustained pressure.

The conditions however are not good as the AMI stadium has had 36 hours of rain prior to the match which means that the field has a number of very wet patches making the ball very slippery.

The Brumbies have lost Adam Ashley-Cooper who went off with what looks like an ankle injury.

Mose Tuiali’i scored the first try of the 2008 Super 14 after Leon MacDonald created the overlap in classic Crusaders style rugby. Dan Carter converted the try.

The Brumbies close off the half strong but a ball being knocked forward stops what would have been a certain try.

Half time Score Crusaders 10 Brumbies 3

Ali Williams thought he had opened the second half with a try but Kane McBride the TMO ruled that the ball was lost forward as he hit the corner post.

It didn’t take take long for Mose Tuiali’i to get going in the second half as he blasted through three tackles and score his second try for the night this time next to the posts. Dan Carter converted.

The Crusaders look to be gathering pace and the Brumbies are struggling with the slippery ball. Brumbies will need to score soon to stay in the game.

The Brumbies gave away another penalty but Dan Carter’s penalty was short indicating how heavy the ball is in the wet.

On the 60 minute mark the Brumbies gave away another penalty but Dan Carter pushed it wide to the left of the posts.

Nick Henderson kicks another penalty for the Crusaders as the clock ticks past the 65 minute mark, probably putting a win out of touch for the Brumbies.

A powerful charge sees Brad Thorn diving over the line to score the Crusaders third try with 11 minutes remaining. Dan Carter converted the try.

Dan Carter scores the Crusaders bonus point try and then converts his own try as the siren blasts.
