Chisholm in race against time

Injured ACT Brumbies lock Mark Chisholm will undergo a fitness test in Canberra on Friday and if he passes he will join his team-mates in New Zealand for the Brumbies opening match.

Brumbies coach Laurie Fisher left Chisholm out of the 26-man squad to play in the Waratahs final warm up match.

Chisholm who played 13 games for the Brumbies last year has been struggling with a groin injury which saw him being ruled out of the Super 14 warm-up fixture but the Brumbies medical staff will give him a fitness test on Friday before making a decision on his availability for the season-opener against the Canterbury Crusaders.

Fisher isn’t terribly optimistic about whether Chisholm would win his race against fitness and said, “He’s in significant doubt,”

“He’ll train here in the gym until Friday and get put through his paces before we get more of a gauge but it’s probably not looking good at this stage.” he told the Canberra Times.
