Bulls beat Lions in sloppy match

In a rugby match riddled with early season mistakes and lots of kicking, the Bulls, in their second friendly match preparing for the Super 14 season, beat the Lions in their first outing of the season 28-14 in Windhoek on Saturday.

The Bulls led 14-7 at halftime.

The Lions, with Jaco Pretorius in brilliant form, at times showed good control and understanding of the new laws and with a little more match practice, is going to be a team to watch.

Although clinching the win, the Bulls made a lot of mistakes, were on the receiving end of most of the penalties and will have to get their act together before they take on the Stormers in their opening match.

Brian Habana, Guthro Steenkamp, Dewald Potgieter and Werner Kruger scoired tries for the Bulls, while Jaco Pretorius accounted for both Lions tries.

Derick Hougaard coverted all four Bulls tries and Louis Strydom and Chris Jonck converted for the Lions.
